Unit 8.1: Adaptation and Natural Selection
In this unit, students discover how populations can change
over time. They use tabletop simulations to discover how natural selection causes populations to change over time in response to a changing environment resulting in populations made up of individuals with very different traits. Students discover that in order for a population to adapt, individuals must show variations in their traits; they cannot all be the same. Students again use tabletop simulations to investigate how mutations account for these different traits.
