Mi-STAR Featured in Michigan Tech Research Magazine
Tuesday, March 26, 2019
“Education Ecosystem for STEM,” an article in Michigan Tech’s 2019 Research Magazine, features Mi-STAR as one of three University initiatives designed to improve education in science, technology, engineering and math. One goal: to meet the growing demand for STEM professionals state- and nationwide.
Mi-STAR helps by motivating middle school students to love learning science. “Kids who used to sullenly drag themselves into science class are now eager for class to begin,” says Jackie Huntoon, Mi-STAR project leader and principal investigator. “All students have something valuable to contribute. We know Mi-STAR is making a difference for them.”
