Unit 7.6: “The Popsicle Vandal”: What Determines Our Traits?

In this unit, students work to discover how our traits are determined. They develop a strong understanding of how our genes can impact our traits, including the way our senses work. They demonstrate their understanding by developing models to describe how genes influence human’s ability to see color. Students develop an understanding of how the structure of our protein receptors are determined by our genes, and how the structure of each protein is integral to how it functions.

Unit Challenge Question: How is it possible that people can have traits that others in their family do not have?
