Mi-STAR will be presenting at the Ecological Society of America’s 2017 Annual Meeting, August 6-11, 2017, in Portland, Oregon. Mi-STAR is collaborating with partners from ESA to facilitate two middle school teacher workshops at this year’s meeting.
The first workshop, Invasion of the Ecosystem Snatchers, will explore proven, NGSS- aligned activities that engage middle school students in ecology, even when class periods are short and access to the outdoors is limited.
In the second workshop, Learning Activities and Tools for Teaching Global Climate Change through Student-Centered Explorations, teachers will participate in three-dimensional, hands-on activities from a classroom-tested middle school science unit exploring causes of global climate change and possible mitigation strategies.
Teachers, please click on the images above to download a PDF of the workshop fliers for more information. Contact Dr. Candi Galen at firstname.lastname@example.org to request application forms. Applications must be received by Monday, June 5, 2017.
