Mi-STAR was featured in a Jan. 17 article by Roger Bryant appearing in the Midland Daily News, "MPS Board Approves New STEM Curriculum." The MPS Board of Education approved following the Mi-STAR course sequence at both MPS middle schools. The article cites three Mi-STAR educators, Carmen Kessler, Jennifer Lenon and Robin Allen, who praised the program for improving teaching and learning, as well as getting students in the Midland Public Schools excited about science.
The newspaper followed up with a Jan. 18 editorial, "Our View: MPS Take a Step Forward," which stated, "Creating a challenging STEM curriculum in a city where many jobs are linked to science is a catalyst for future growth. What scientist would not want to see such an opportunity available for their children?"
The editorial also lauded the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation for its support of Mi-STAR.
