Lesson Structure
The Mi-STAR Unit Challenge motivates students to learn using science and engineering practices.  Our Unit Progression Model lays out a path to student mastery of all 59 NGSS PE's at the 6-8 gradeband, in connection with a 21st century theme to engage and motivate learners.Our lesson structure, based on the 5E Learning Cycle and the Gathering Reasoning Communicating sequence, scaffolds student learning from day-to-day.

AssessmentOff-the-Shelf Lessons
Each Mi-STAR unit is accompanied by a pre-post assessment and three-dimensional embedded assessments.In addition to units, Mi-STAR employs short, “grab and go” lessons that target specific DCIs, SEPs  and CCCs to help students meet the demands of the new science standards.
